Day-by-Day — Zanzibar 4 Days Itinerary Itinerary
Day 1: Airport Pick-up and Transfer to Stone Town
Stone Town is the cultural heart of Zanzibar, a UNESCO World Heritage site where time has seemingly stood still for two centuries. Walking through these streets feels like navigating a living museum of Omani architecture, Indian influence, and African spirit.
You will check into the Tembo House Hotel, a landmark property right on the seafront. We chose this for our guests because of its historical significance and its prime location. The hotel is famously adorned with ornate wood carvings and antique furniture, offering a pool—a rarity in the heart of the old city—and views of the dhows (traditional wooden boats) bobbing in the harbor.
Pro-Tip: Head to the Tembo House seafront at sunset. You’ll see local “Forodhani jumpers”—youths performing acrobatic dives into the ocean. It’s a local spectacle that most tourists miss while sitting inside their hotels.

Day 2: Stone Town and Countryside Spice Tour
Tracing Sultans and Spices
Zanzibar’s history is written in the scent of cloves and the intricate carvings of its doors. On your second day, we transition from the urban labyrinth to the lush interior of the island.
After a breakfast of fresh tropical fruits, your guided tour of Stone Town begins. We will lead you through the “labyrinths”—narrow streets where you can touch the famous Zanzibar doors. These doors are symbols of status; the rounded tops signify Indian influence, while the rectangular frames represent Omani heritage.
The Answer Engine: What are the must-see spots in Stone Town?
The essential stops include the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the Sultan’s Palace. These sites offer a deep dive into the island’s role in the global spice and ivory trades.
In the afternoon, we head to the countryside. Zanzibar is often called the Spice Island for a reason. You won’t just see spices in a market; you will see them growing in the wild.
Nutmeg: Watch how the fruit is opened to reveal the scarlet mace.
Cinnamon: Learn why the bark, leaves, and roots all smell different.
Cloves: The “gold” of Zanzibar that once made this island the wealthiest in East Africa.
The Transition to Kendwa
By late afternoon, we drive north to Kendwa Beach. While many travelers head to Nungwi, we prefer Kendwa for its unique geography. It is one of the few beaches on the island not significantly affected by the tide, meaning you can swim all day long.
| Feature | Stone Town | Kendwa Beach |
| Vibe | Historic, Bustling, Cultural | Relaxed, Tropical, Romantic |
| Best For | History Buffs & Foodies | Swimmers & Sunbathers |
| Must-Do | Market Shopping | Sunset Sailing |

Day 3: Full Day at Kendwa Beach
Ocean Bliss and Underwater Wonders
Today is about the rhythm of the tides and the warmth of the sun. Kendwa is famous for its “powder-white” sand that never gets too hot to walk on.
The Answer Engine: Is Kendwa or Nungwi better for swimming? Kendwa is superior for swimming because it lacks the dramatic low tides found elsewhere. The water remains deep and crystal clear throughout the day, perfect for snorkeling and diving.
For those seeking adventure, we recommend a boat trip to the Mnemba Atoll. While the island itself is private, the surrounding reef is a marine conservation area.
What to look for: Look for wild dolphins often found in these waters and the vibrant “Christmas Tree” worms on the coral heads.
Equipment: Our team ensures you have high-quality fins and masks, as the currents here can be deceptive.

Day 4: Kendwa Beach to Airport
The Final Tropical Glow
On your final morning 2026, there is no rush. Enjoy a slow breakfast overlooking the Indian Ocean. We recommend a final stroll along the beach to the northern rocks, where the local fishermen bring in the morning catch of kingfish and red snapper.
In the afternoon, we provide a private transfer back to the airport. This drive takes about 90 minutes, allowing you one last look at the vibrant villages and baobab trees that line the Zanzibari roads.

EXCELLENT Based on 2 reviews Posted on Godson GVerified Great Experience with Tanzania Safari Experience We had an amazing safari with Tanzania Safari Experience, and honestly the whole trip was put together really well by Laurent and his team. From our first message to the last day, they were easy to reach, quick to reply, and clear about everything. The plan made sense, the timing was smooth, and we didn’t have to stress about anything.Uncle J was a big part of what made it special. He knows the parks incredibly well and seems to notice things before anyone else. He’d position the vehicle perfectly for photos and often got us to sightings before the crowds built up. We were lucky to see [your highlights: migration / lions / cheetahs / elephants / a crossing], and every drive felt exciting and different. The vehicle was comfortable and in good shape, and everything ran on schedule. If you’re looking for a well-organized safari with a great guide, I’d definitely recommend Tanzania Safari Experience.Posted on Chris HVerified An absolutely brilliant tour / travel company What can I say. How do you explain PERFECTION. I will try. From the outset of our trip Ramadhan and Laurent were excellent. We gave them our requirements and budget and they prepared a program that was outstanding. The whole safari went like clockwork. We were met and briefed by Ramadhan on our arrival and introduced to our driver and guide extraordinar Ngoi. We visited Tarangier, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and the Ngorongoro Crater and Zanzibar. Absolutely brilliant trip, we saw the most extraordinary game. All the accommodation arranged for us was magnificent, especially the tented camps, where we were visited by a lion and elephant, scary but exhilarating. So if you are looking for an unforgettable experience look no further than Laurent and Ramadhan from Tanzania Safari Experience. They truly put clients first and foremost and deliver on their promises.Cheers from a very satisfied Chris and Terri HarveyVerified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
