We toured with Tanzania Safari Experience for an eight day trip to Tanzania. Five days of safari and then three days of beach vacation in Zanzibar. They were great to work with and customized everything exactly the way we wanted it. The lodges we were booked in were all incredible, particularly the Lahia Tented Lodge in the Serengeti. Our driver, Jay, seemed to know every road in every national park and as a result the wildlife viewing was unparalleled. There were times where we were the only vehicle seeing lions or hippos. The owner, Laurent, was extremely responsive and any issues we had in-country with our logistics were immediately sorted by him. He genuinely wanted us to have a first-rate experience. The only thing we were unprepared for is that some of the days in the safari vehicle were very long (10+ hours) and the roads can be really rough. But there were plenty of cold drinks in the car and it was worth it to see the wildlife. The safari/beach split was a great way to do the vacation and the beaches of Zanzibar were beautiful with clear blue water.
This company exceeded everything we’d hoped for. From the start, the tour operator had everything covered — a detailed itinerary laid out well in advance, quick responses to any questions, and a genuine attentiveness that made the whole thing feel effortless. The accommodation was seriously impressive. Not what I was expecting at all — comfortable, well-appointed, and luxurious. We also spent time right in the heart of the bush. A proper treat. The two people who really made this trip were our guide Mariki and photographer Agnes. Mariki’s knowledge of the bush and animal behaviour is something else — he always seemed to know exactly where to go, and his instincts paid off every single time. Agnes has a brilliant eye and captured shots we could never have got ourselves. As for the wildlife — we saw far more than we ever imagined we would. Elephants, lions, leopard, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, hippos — the lot. As a first safari, I couldn’t have asked for more. Would recommend without hesitation.
We had an amazing safari with Tanzania Safari Experience, and honestly the whole trip was put together really well by Laurent and his team. From our first message to the last day, they were easy to reach, quick to reply, and clear about everything. The plan made sense, the timing was smooth, and we didn’t have to stress about anything. Uncle J was a big part of what made it special. He knows the parks incredibly well and seems to notice things before anyone else. He’d position the vehicle perfectly for photos and often got us to sightings before the crowds built up. We were lucky to see [your highlights: migration / lions / cheetahs / elephants / a crossing], and every drive felt exciting and different. The vehicle was comfortable and in good shape, and everything ran on schedule. If you’re looking for a well-organized safari with a great guide, I’d definitely recommend Tanzania Safari Experience.

This private 2 day Mikumi safari costs $611 per person, based on two people traveling together. The price is designed to give travelers a complete safari experience without the higher cost of using domestic flights.
The safari includes your SGR journey from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro, road transfers between Morogoro and Mikumi, private game drives in an open sided 4×4 Land Cruiser, a professional safari guide, park fees, accommodation, and meals.
The itinerary quote is dynamic and remains subject to availability until your booking confirmation contract and invoice are issued. Accommodation and transport availability can affect the final confirmed price if booking is delayed.
Yes. Using the SGR train is one of the most comfortable ways to reach Mikumi National Park from Dar es Salaam without spending many hours driving on the road.
You will travel by SGR from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro. Once you arrive at Jakaya Kikwete SGR Station, our representative will meet you and transfer you by road to Mikumi National Park.
The road transfer from Morogoro to Mikumi normally takes around 1 to 2 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. This combination of SGR and private road transfer makes the journey much easier and more comfortable.
This is a fully private safari. You will not be placed in a safari vehicle with travelers from other bookings.
Your game drives are done in your own open sided 4×4 Land Cruiser with a professional safari guide. This gives you more freedom to spend time at wildlife sightings and move at a pace that suits you.
A private safari is especially useful in Mikumi because your guide can focus completely on what you want to see rather than following a fixed group schedule.
Yes. You will stay at Mikumi Wildlife Lodge, which is located inside Mikumi National Park.
Staying inside the park allows you to enjoy the atmosphere of Mikumi even after your main game drive has finished. You remain surrounded by the landscapes of the national park instead of driving back to accommodation outside the park.
The lodge also has a swimming pool and views across the surrounding area, making it a good place to relax after spending the day searching for wildlife.
You will have game drives on both days of the safari. Day 1 includes the main game drive after arriving in Mikumi National Park.
You will spend much of the day exploring different areas of the park with your private guide. Your guide will look for wildlife such as elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, and antelopes.
On Day 2, you will have another shorter morning game drive after breakfast before beginning your journey back to Morogoro for the SGR train to Dar es Salaam.
Mikumi National Park is home to a wide range of African wildlife and is particularly known for its open plains and large herbivore populations.
You may see elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas, warthogs, hippos, and several other species during your game drives. Lions are also present in Mikumi, along with other predators.
Wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed because the animals move freely within the national park. Having a private guide gives you more flexibility to search different areas based on recent animal movements.
Yes. Two days can be enough for travelers who have limited time but still want to experience a proper safari rather than doing only a very short day trip.
This itinerary gives you game drives on both Day 1 and Day 2, while also allowing you to spend the night inside Mikumi National Park. That gives you more time in the park compared with traveling from Dar es Salaam and returning on the same day.
If you have more time available, adding another night can make the safari slower and more relaxed. However, for travelers with only two days, this itinerary gives a good balance between travel time, wildlife viewing, and comfort.
Yes. This safari is specifically designed for travelers who are starting and finishing their trip in Dar es Salaam.
Instead of driving the entire distance between Dar es Salaam and Mikumi National Park, you use the SGR train to reach Morogoro. Our team then handles the remaining road transfer to the national park.
This makes the safari suitable for travelers who want a short wildlife trip from Dar es Salaam without taking a domestic flight. After your Day 2 game drive, you return to Morogoro and continue back to Dar es Salaam by SGR.
