What to Expect
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred by your Tanzania Safari Experience guide to Lake Duluti, a small crater lake located close to Arusha town.
Once you arrive, you will begin your canoeing experience on the calm waters of the lake. Canoe safaris are a great way to relax and have fun while experiencing nature from a different perspective, directly from the water.
As you glide across Lake Duluti, you will be surrounded by beautiful green forest and peaceful scenery. The activity usually lasts around 1.5 hours, giving you enough time to enjoy the lake, take photos, and appreciate the quiet atmosphere.
Lake Duluti is also a bird lover’s paradise. During the canoeing experience, you may spot eagles, kingfishers, darters, and other bird species around the lake and forest.
After the activity, your guide will transfer you back or continue with the next part of your itinerary, depending on your program. The price is available on request.

Useful Information
Lake Duluti is a small volcanic crater lake located near Arusha. It is surrounded by forest and has a calm, peaceful atmosphere, making it a good place for canoeing, birdwatching, and relaxing before or after safari.
The lake is quite deep for its size, with an estimated depth of around 9 meters in some areas. Because it is a crater lake, the bottom drops down more quickly than many normal lakes, so guests must always follow the guide’s instructions while on the water.
The green colour around Lake Duluti comes from the surrounding vegetation, forest reflection, and natural aquatic plants. Depending on the season and light, the water and lake edges can appear very green, which adds to the peaceful natural scenery.
Fishing is generally not the main activity at Lake Duluti because the lake is mainly protected and used for tourism activities such as canoeing, nature walks, and birdwatching. The area is also valued as a quiet habitat for birds and other wildlife.
For safety, you will be given a life jacket before entering the canoe. The activity is guided, and the water is usually calm, but you should remain seated properly, avoid sudden movements, and follow all safety instructions from your guide.
