Home / Place to Stay / Swahili Beach Resort

Swahili Beach Resort is a large beachfront resort on Diani Beach, Kenya, designed around a mix of Swahili, Arabian and Indian architectural influences. With approximately 140 rooms and suites, it works well for couples, families and travellers looking for a comfortable beach stay after a Kenya safari. The resort has direct access to the Indian Ocean and extensive gardens and pool areas.

The rooms are spacious and include air conditioning, mosquito nets, minibar facilities, tea and coffee making facilities, satellite television and large en suite bathrooms. Some upgraded rooms have private lounge areas, balconies or terraces, while the suites provide additional living space, dining areas and kitchen facilities. This makes the property suitable for both short beach extensions and longer stays in Diani.

One of the strongest features of Swahili Beach Resort is its seven tier swimming pool, which extends through the property toward the beachfront. Guests also have access to restaurants, a spa, fitness facilities and several on site shops. The dining experience combines international dishes with Indian and Swahili influences, giving guests several options without needing to leave the resort.

There is also plenty to do beyond relaxing by the pool. Diani Beach is one of Kenya’s main coastal activity centres, and guests can arrange snorkelling, diving, dhow trips, fishing and other water sports. Excursions to Kisite Marine Park and Wasini Island can also be organised, making this a strong option for travellers who want both beach time and activities during their stay.

Rates at Swahili Beach Resort start from approximately $238 per person per night, depending on the room type, season, meal plan and travel dates. I recommend it particularly for travellers finishing a safari who want several nights on the Kenyan coast rather than just an overnight beach stop. If your priority is a large resort with good facilities, direct beach access and plenty of activities, Swahili Beach Resort is one of the stronger options to consider in Diani Beach.

    Great Tanzanian vacation

We toured with Tanzania Safari Experience for an eight day trip to Tanzania. Five days of safari and then three days of beach vacation in Zanzibar. They were great to work with and customized everything exactly the way we wanted it. The lodges we were booked in were all incredible, particularly the Lahia Tented Lodge in the Serengeti. Our driver, Jay, seemed to know every road in every national park and as a result the wildlife viewing was unparalleled. There were times where we were the only vehicle seeing lions or hippos. The owner, Laurent, was extremely responsive and any issues we had in-country with our logistics were immediately sorted by him. He genuinely wanted us to have a first-rate experience. The only thing we were unprepared for is that some of the days in the safari vehicle were very long (10+ hours) and the roads can be really rough. But there were plenty of cold drinks in the car and it was worth it to see the wildlife. The safari/beach split was a great way to do the vacation and the beaches of Zanzibar were beautiful with clear blue water.

    Safari May 2026

This company exceeded everything we’d hoped for. From the start, the tour operator had everything covered — a detailed itinerary laid out well in advance, quick responses to any questions, and a genuine attentiveness that made the whole thing feel effortless. The accommodation was seriously impressive. Not what I was expecting at all — comfortable, well-appointed, and luxurious. We also spent time right in the heart of the bush. A proper treat. The two people who really made this trip were our guide Mariki and photographer Agnes. Mariki’s knowledge of the bush and animal behaviour is something else — he always seemed to know exactly where to go, and his instincts paid off every single time. Agnes has a brilliant eye and captured shots we could never have got ourselves. As for the wildlife — we saw far more than we ever imagined we would. Elephants, lions, leopard, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, hippos — the lot. As a first safari, I couldn’t have asked for more. Would recommend without hesitation.

Great Experience with Tanzania Safari Experience

We had an amazing safari with Tanzania Safari Experience, and honestly the whole trip was put together really well by Laurent and his team. From our first message to the last day, they were easy to reach, quick to reply, and clear about everything. The plan made sense, the timing was smooth, and we didn’t have to stress about anything. Uncle J was a big part of what made it special. He knows the parks incredibly well and seems to notice things before anyone else. He’d position the vehicle perfectly for photos and often got us to sightings before the crowds built up. We were lucky to see [your highlights: migration / lions / cheetahs / elephants / a crossing], and every drive felt exciting and different. The vehicle was comfortable and in good shape, and everything ran on schedule. If you’re looking for a well-organized safari with a great guide, I’d definitely recommend Tanzania Safari Experience.

Everything You Need to Know About Your Safari Accommodation

Every great safari includes a comfortable place to rest after a day of adventure. Whether you are staying in a luxury lodge, tented camp, or budget-friendly accommodation, it is natural to have questions about comfort, location, meals, and facilities. Here, we have answered the most common questions travelers ask about safari accommodation, so you can plan with confidence and enjoy a relaxing stay in the heart of Tanzania’s wilderness.

Yes. Swahili Beach Resort is a strong choice for travellers who want a full resort experience on Diani Beach rather than a very small or highly secluded boutique property. The resort combines direct beach access, large swimming pools, spacious rooms, several restaurants, spa facilities and a wide range of activities within one property.

It works especially well for travellers who want to relax for several days without needing to plan something outside the hotel every day. You can spend one day by the pool, another on the beach, book a spa treatment, arrange a water activity or simply enjoy the restaurants and grounds.

For safari travellers, I particularly like it as a beach extension because the experience is very different from being on safari. After several days of early morning game drives and long hours in a safari vehicle, the resort gives you space to slow down and rest.
