Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire – The Land of Giants

We begin by picking you up in Arusha. After a quick briefing with your guide and chef, we drive two hours to Tarangire. While many travelers rush to the Serengeti, I always tell our guests that Tarangire is the “hidden gem” of the north.
The park is dominated by the Tarangire River. During the dry season, this is the only permanent water source for miles, drawing thousands of animals. You’ll see elephant families—sometimes forty or fifty strong—interacting under the shade of ancient baobabs.

Day 2: The Journey to the Endless Plains
The drive from Mto Wa Mbu to the Serengeti takes roughly six hours, transiting through the Ngorongoro Highlands and offering breathtaking views of the crater before descending into the savannah.
This is a big travel day, but the scenery is unparalleled. We make a 20-minute stop at the Ngorongoro Crater viewpoint. Standing at the rim, you’ll look down into a lost world 600 meters below.
The Cultural Choice: We offer an optional stop at a Maasai Boma. While some call it touristy, it is a genuine opportunity to see how the Maasai coexist with wildlife. You’ll learn about their history as lion hunters—a tradition now replaced by conservation—and their unique diet.
By late afternoon, we reach the Seronera region, the heart of the Serengeti. We’ll do a “sunset game drive” on our way to the camp. There is nothing quite like the Serengeti sky turning violet as a leopard begins its evening hunt.

Day 3: Full Day in the Serengeti – Following the Rhythm
A full day in the Serengeti allows for deep exploration of the Seronera Valley, where permanent water sources ensure high predator densities, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs, year-round.
Today, we are flexible. Depending on the month of your visit in 2026, we may head north, south, east, or west to track the Great Migration—over 1.5 million wildebeest and zebras on their eternal search for green grass.
Our team focuses on “strategic partnerships” in the wild. You’ll notice zebras and wildebeests often travel together; the zebra has excellent memory for paths, while the wildebeest has a keen sense for water.
Pro-Tip: Bring a good pair of binoculars (we provide one pair per jeep, but having your own is better). In the vastness of the Serengeti, a “rock” in the distance often turns out to be a pride of lions resting on a kopje.
Note: This is a public campsite. Animals are not fenced out. It is common to hear hyenas “whooping” or see buffaloes grazing near the tents. It is perfectly safe as long as you follow your guide’s instructions.

Day 4: Sunrise over the Savannah and the Rim
Morning game drives in the Serengeti offer the best chance to see predators in action before the heat of the day sets in, followed by a scenic drive to the Ngorongoro rim.
We wake up at 6:00 AM. The air is chilly, so bring a fleece. This is the “magic hour.” Predators are most active now, and the golden light is a photographer’s dream. After a mid-day “brunch” back at camp, we pack up and head toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
We will spend the night at Simba Campsite, perched right on the edge of the crater rim. Because of the altitude, it gets very cold here.

After an early breakfast, we descend 650 meters into the crater floor. This is a collapsed volcano—a caldera—and the views are surreal. Because the walls are so steep, many animals stay here year-round. It is the best place in Tanzania to see the Big Five in a single day.
We’ll have a picnic lunch by the hippo pool before ascending the rim and driving back to Arusha. We usually arrive in the city by late afternoon, marking the end of your 2026 adventure.
