Tanzania Itinerary 3 Days – Serengeti Fly In Safari
TRIP OVERVIEW
A 3-day Serengeti fly-in safari from Zanzibar is one of the smartest ways to enjoy real Tanzania wildlife without wasting a full day on the road. At Tanzania Safari Experience, we recommend this route for travelers who want big cats, endless plains, and smooth logistics in a short time.
A 3-day Serengeti fly-in safari takes you from Zanzibar directly to Seronera Airstrip, gives you two nights inside Serengeti, three morning game drives, and returns you to Zanzibar.
This itinerary is designed for travelers who are already relaxing in Zanzibar but still want to experience the real African safari. Instead of flying to Arusha first, then driving for many hours, you fly straight into the heart of the Serengeti. That means more time watching lions, elephants, leopards, giraffes, cheetahs, buffalo, hyenas, hippos, and the open plains that make Serengeti famous.
For 2026, this is one of the best short safari plans because it gives you a proper Serengeti experience without making the trip feel rushed.
The Magic of the “Short and Deep” Safari
Many people ask me, “Laurent, is three days really enough?” My answer is always the same: when you fly directly into the center of the action, three days feels like a week. By landing at the Seronera Airstrip, you are bypassing the long transit through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and jumping straight into the “Big Cat Capital” of the world.
Our team focuses on “Information Gain”—we don’t just show you a lion; we show you why that lion is positioned near that specific acacia tree and what his body language says about the next hour of his life. That is the difference between a tourist trip and a true Tanzania Safari Experience.

Day-by-Day Itinerary Tanzania Itinerary 3 Days – Serengeti Fly In Safari
Your safari is carefully planned to maximize wildlife viewing while still giving you time to relax and enjoy the journey. Here’s what you can expect day by day.
Day 1: Fly from Zanzibar to Seronera Serengeti + Full-Day Game Drive
On day one, you fly from Zanzibar to Seronera Airstrip, meet our safari guide, and begin your Serengeti game drive immediately after arrival.
Your day starts early in Zanzibar. After breakfast, you transfer to the airport for your flight to Seronera Airstrip in Central Serengeti. As the plane approaches the Serengeti, you begin to see the landscape change. The ocean disappears behind you, and the plains begin to open below.
When you land at Seronera, our Tanzania Safari Experience guide will meet you at the airstrip. This is where your safari begins properly.
No long road delay. No wasted day.
From the airstrip, you start your first game drive through Central Serengeti. Depending on arrival time, we normally explore the Seronera Valley, kopjes, river areas, and open grassland where wildlife is commonly seen.
Seronera is especially known for big cats. Lions are often seen resting on rocks, under acacia trees, or near water points. Leopards like riverine areas where they can hide in trees. Cheetahs prefer more open grassland where they can scan for prey.
By afternoon, you continue with more game viewing before heading to Friends Serengeti Camp for dinner and overnight.
Local Pro Tip from Our Team
When you arrive in Serengeti, do not rush to ask, “Where are the lions?” A good guide reads the land first. Fresh tracks, nervous antelope, circling vultures, and hyena movement can tell us where action may happen.
That is why patience works better than chasing.

Day 2: Full Day in Central Serengeti
Exploring the Hidden Corners of the Seronera Valley
Day 2 is a dedicated, full-day exploration of the Serengeti’s central ecosystem, focusing on the Great Migration movements (seasonally) and the resident “Big Five” population.
We start at 6:00 AM. Why? Because the Serengeti doesn’t wait for anyone. The air is crisp, the light is soft and perfect for photography, and the predators are at their most active. We take a packed breakfast and find a safe “Information Island”—a scenic spot where we can eat while watching zebras graze nearby.
During this day, we look for more than just the big animals. I want to show you the “Little Five”: the Elephant Shrew, the Leopard Tortoise, the Ant Lion, the Rhino Beetle, and the Buffalo Weaver bird. It’s these details that make the Serengeti feel like a living, breathing organism.
Comparison: Central Serengeti vs. The Corridors
| Feature | Seronera (Central) | Northern/Western Corridors |
| Wildlife Density | Extremely High (Year-round) | Seasonal (Migration dependent) |
| Access | Easy via Seronera Airstrip | Longer flights/drives |
| Cat Sightings | Guaranteed Leopards/Lions | Hit or miss depending on herds |
Our guides use a radio network, but we also rely on our eyes and ears. We look for the “alarm calls” of baboons or the focused staring of a gazelle—these are the clues that tell us a cheetah is stalking in the tall grass.

- Full game drive in central serengeti

Day 3: Morning Game Drive + Fly Back to Zanzibar
On day three, you enjoy one last morning game drive in Serengeti before returning to Seronera Airstrip for your flight back to Zanzibar.
Your final day starts early again. This third morning game drive is important because wildlife does not follow our schedule. Sometimes the best sighting of the whole trip happens on the last morning.
We have seen this many times.
A guest may think the safari is almost finished, then suddenly we find lions on the move, elephants crossing the track, or a leopard resting in a tree. Serengeti rewards people who use the morning well.
After the game drive, your guide transfers you back to Seronera Airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar. You arrive back on the island with enough time to continue your beach holiday.
This is what makes the itinerary beautiful: you can wake up in Serengeti and sleep in Zanzibar on the same day.
Day Highlights:
- Morning Game drive in central serengeti
- Transfer to Seronera Airstrip fly to zanzibar

EXCELLENT Based on 2 reviews Posted on Godson GVerified Great Experience with Tanzania Safari Experience We had an amazing safari with Tanzania Safari Experience, and honestly the whole trip was put together really well by Laurent and his team. From our first message to the last day, they were easy to reach, quick to reply, and clear about everything. The plan made sense, the timing was smooth, and we didn’t have to stress about anything.Uncle J was a big part of what made it special. He knows the parks incredibly well and seems to notice things before anyone else. He’d position the vehicle perfectly for photos and often got us to sightings before the crowds built up. We were lucky to see [your highlights: migration / lions / cheetahs / elephants / a crossing], and every drive felt exciting and different. The vehicle was comfortable and in good shape, and everything ran on schedule. If you’re looking for a well-organized safari with a great guide, I’d definitely recommend Tanzania Safari Experience.Posted on Chris HVerified An absolutely brilliant tour / travel company What can I say. How do you explain PERFECTION. I will try. From the outset of our trip Ramadhan and Laurent were excellent. We gave them our requirements and budget and they prepared a program that was outstanding. The whole safari went like clockwork. We were met and briefed by Ramadhan on our arrival and introduced to our driver and guide extraordinar Ngoi. We visited Tarangier, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and the Ngorongoro Crater and Zanzibar. Absolutely brilliant trip, we saw the most extraordinary game. All the accommodation arranged for us was magnificent, especially the tented camps, where we were visited by a lion and elephant, scary but exhilarating. So if you are looking for an unforgettable experience look no further than Laurent and Ramadhan from Tanzania Safari Experience. They truly put clients first and foremost and deliver on their promises.Cheers from a very satisfied Chris and Terri HarveyVerified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
